Since last week I have spotted number of dead birds(5 piegons and black birds) in Bush Hill Park area. I am worried that if these birds are dead because of bird flu as I never came across this number of dead birds in a very short period of time. Could you enlighten us please who colects these dead birds, who raises concerns about these incidents to correct authorities and who investigates the reason behind it? I also would like to know if any other member of community come across dead birds in Enfield. A small news for this in your paper would be informative. Thank You A.Oz En1

I still read articles and letters on the web pages of the Enfield Advertiser and have followed the news regarding Chase Farm Hospital. I sincerely hope it is kept open and that the improvements needed are carried out. My mother passed away in the hospital almost 50 years ago to the day and even then we thought it quite a journey from Chestnut Road but how will they cope if they close. Seriously sick or injured people must travel thru' heavy traffic to a hospital this Government thinks more of than patients welfare. We still have a home in the UK but live in Cyprus and enjoy excellent health care, the local hospital is 10 mins away at most.Council tax this year 50 pounds,we pay no income tax up to 19500 Euros and that is for all.So why is Britains health and education etc in such a mess that they close post offices, hospitals libraries, schools, care homes etc and increase every known tax whilst so doing. I wish all those fighting to keep Chase Farm open the best of luck.

Enfield Council claim to take flytipping seriously, however i made an online report on 22nd April 2008 about soil and wood that i found obstructing a footpath in my area. I did not get a response so a week later i filled out another online report. Still nothing was done. I have filled out an online complaint form, still no response. I rang the flytipping line on 8th May and was told someone was dealing with it. i rang again on 13th May to find out when the soil and wood blocking the footpath would be moved, TWO WEEKS after i reported it, the webpage states flytipped material will be removed within FOUR HOURS!!. Today i had a call saying that Enfield Council are trying to determine whether it is their land!! I told the gentleman i spoke to that as i have seen Enfield Council grass cutters on that land it must belong to them. Why does it take so much effort and time to get a simple problem resolved!! Residents shouldn't have to resort to getting the local media involved.

As the weather is starting to nice and hot we need to start thinking about ways to save water to stop the hosepipe ban that we all know is heading our way but at the junction of bullsmoor lane and the Hertford Rd there is a 3 foot high fountain of water from a burst pipe spilling thousand of gallons of water a day and it been like it for a week

I can even go one better that that - i put out a compost bag with garden rubbish outside the dustman rather helpfully tore the bag in half to empty it put it back in my garden ripped in half - exactly what use did they think it was to anyone ripped apart? More to the point why did they then leave the same torn up useless bag outside my house for another 2 weeks - EVEN taking it out of the black recycle box just to leave it on the floor again? Surely anyone with half a brain cell might have worked out you can't actually put anything in bag that is ripped in half!

I have just reported that after refuse collection this morning, they had left rubbish in the street looking realy bad, I phoned Enfield Council who stated that it will take two working days to clear it, how can this be, what are we paying the council tax. why does it take two days to clear rubbish which should have been cleared by them at the time they made the mass. I think it is poor service

Isn't it time Pauline Arnold stops paying lip service to 'Breed Prejudice' and saw the bigger picture? Us 'Staffy' owners are constantly having to watch out for badly behaved dogs who always start the fights, yet just because they are smaller people think it's acceptable for thier dogs to cause a public nuisance.

with all the murders and the incident this week when a staffordshire bull terrier attacked a cavalier spaniel on ramney marsh and ripped his eye out, i am very pleased I have moved into hertfordshire

isnt it about time all staffordshire bull terriers are muzzled so us other dog owners can walk around a field without the constant fear of our dogs being savaged. fear

I was saddened to hear about a beautiful cavalier spaniel called Harry that was attacked over ramney marsh by a greyhound/staffodshire bull terrior, the dog charged across the field, attacked Harry and ripped his eye out. I feel angry that staffs attack small dogs, only a few months ago a springer spaniel was attacked by a staff in the same field. What amazes me is the staff owners still walk their dogs, unmuzzeled and off the lead, and when a disaster happens like Harry loosing an eye, the owners dont even make an offer to pay the vet bills. The owner of the dog is the Greyhound Pub, South Ordnance rd, Enfield Lock. If this had been a child the dog would have been put to sleep. is it the first attack, poor Harrys life will never be the same, he had the most beautiful eyes how will he survive with one eye, how will he be when he goes for walks and meets other dogs. Isnt it about time all staffs and cross with staffs were muzzled.

What the hell is going on Edmonton. We now have a fifth murder in the area. Is there open gang warfare? The police need to crack down and anyone found carrying a weapon be immediately charged with that offence. It must be frightening for the local residents and make them wary of going out at night.

Enfield Council are always saying that we should re-cycle our household waste. For the past three weeks the bins which have been set aside for the tenants and leaseholders in London Road have remained uncollected. Money was spent adjusting the kerbstones so the bins could be wheeled down to the wagon emptied and then returned. This though does not seem to have encouraged the refuse collectors to do their job. As tenants and leaseholders we are totally disgusted in the attitude of the council and despite promises of collection within 24 hours the bins are now overflowing.

I was waiting for a lift to the car in morrison the other day and decided to spend some time on their notice board. There is note for whoever finds a lost trolley wondering about to call 0208......Wouldn't this have been easier if the number were 0800.. I bet the number of recovered trollies would double if the call was free!

Why is it that The Nightingale Community Hospice Trust is promoting themselves as Enfield's Hospice. They are not Enfield's Hospice - The North London Hospice is Enfield's Hospice. They provide the palliative care for all Enfield residents. Even though their building is not in Enfield (it is in North Finchley, not a million miles away!) they are still very much Enfield's Hospice. They provide a wonderful service and rely on the local community to raise the millions needed each year to keep running. Without our help their amazing care cannot continue.

Its been years with the same old Train Service from Enfield Town to Liverpool Street. So isin,t about time there Should be some NEW Train Services. Not only that. Isin,t it about time the Train Station Should be Extended or build a Brand NEW Train Station. Also isin,t it about time that London Underground Should be connected to it as well and make some Convience. If they make some NEW Train Services from Enfield Town Train Station. It would reduce overcrowding on London Underground.

I am more than happy to see PCO's patrolling our neighbourhood. Would it perhaps be a good use of their presence by equipping them with speed guns, to reduce speeding for example on Southgate raceway, a.k.a. High Street

how or why was enfield defined as being an east london borough. I know things change but surly not even the government or council can change where north, south east and west are oh silly me they can do whatever they want i forgot.

aisha from london 15:23:09 12 November 2007
seems Enfield Labour party are getting really desperate for Labour voters now, shipping them in by the bus load, with no regards for anyone already on the endless housing list
